The City of Duvall
With a current population of about 6,900, the City marks the area originally homesteaded in 1871 by logger James Duvall. The Snoqualmie River was their supply line to Seattle and mail was held in the beginnings of the town of Monroe.
Like other Eastside towns, Duvall went through its own relocation period. After its initial settlement, the town known then as Cherry Valley Village was located about a mile north along the river. The Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad moved the town to make way for tracks along the Snoqualmie River.
Duvall was largely undiscovered until about 1980 when new housing and the lure of being out of larger city environments attracted a steady stream of educated and highly paid families, mainly employed in the computer industry.
Today, Duvall has rebuilt its downtown corridor, while retaining historical buildings honoring the past. It’s a plan to be just modern enough, yet retain the rural character that many moved to Duvall to experience and protect.
The result is a real family oriented town that’s great for raising children, and making memories. See for yourself in this Duvall Profile video by King County TV.
